Waar Hovedgaard - a magical place

A room at he manor Waar Hovedgaard in Nibe, Denmark.

This weekend I attended one of the most magical weddings I have ever had the honor of experiencing in Nibe, Denmark. I also got to stay at a magical place, and if you somehow find yourself at Nibe (not too far from Aalborg), you should definitely try to book a room at this manor called Waar Hovedgaard, a romantic Bed & Breakfast with plenty of charming features, placed in beautiful surroundings. Here's a little clip of the manor, built in the late 1500s, from the outside.

We were greeted by a cute, fat dog, and even though I'm not a dog person, I absolutely fell in love with the dog. But then we were greeted by Lykke who runs the place (she grew up there), and then I fell in love with her too. Running that place is more of a hobby for her, but it's a hobby she's nailing!

At Waar Hovedgaard they only have three double rooms, and Trine (one of my travel partners) and I were lucky enough to get "the yellow room" aka. the bridal suite, a room that had a lovely view over Limfjorden. Look at this baby!

We were planning on getting a tour in the basement (or the dungeon), where supposedly they have ghosts, but we never got the time. After all, we did have a wedding to attend! However, we did get to play around in a cute labyrinth. It kind of reminded me of The Shining by Stephen King, only I wasn't scared. Speaking of, when I had to go to the toilet in the middle of the night, I didn't picture myself bumping in to creepy twins holding hands and asking me to play with them, like I normally do when I'm staying at a hotel. Which is kind of ironic, considering.

Anyway, the rooms were at a very reasonable price, I'm guessing it's partly because they have all of this antiques you can buy, and I can guarantee that you will end up buying something! The breakfast was delightful, and man, am I missing Lykkes probably homemade rolls now when I'm back in my apartment, where there's no one who can make me food. Like that's the only reason I wish I had found a partner. Preferably someone who likes to make breakfasts. Or else, what's the point (except the whole being in love part, of course). But now I'm drifting. I'll end this with a photo of Trine and I eating our breakfast, pretending we live at Waar Hovedgaard.

PS. Thanks to Kristin and Kjersti for a great trip, and shout out to the wedding couple Renate & Asbjørn. We love you!
